Hairy Bikers - Thu 8th November 2012

Si and Dave, the fabulous Hairy Bikers, brought their brand new show, ‘Larger Than Live’, to King George’s Hall last night.  Now leaner and greener, the Hairy Bikers entertained the audience with tales of their culinary expeditions and road trip high-jinks - with a bit of cooking on the side!

Were you there? What did you think?

Absoultely atrocious! A thinner-than-thin script, padded out with schoolboy quips and expletives. To see this effort by two grown men - who make their living as cooks - singing, dancing, ecapology-ing, dressing in womens clothing and attempting to be comedians was as embarassing as it was poor. These fellows have seriously blotted their copy book doing this show. In reality, it was little more than discomforting prostitution by two individuals who need to take a good, long look at themselves before repeating this disdainful premise of entertainment.
My Wife and I bought tickets for a cookery show with a tageed-on sideshow of amusing quips, rather than this Reception Class standard pantomime. They should be ashamed of themselves!

really good show enjoyed it 2 great funny talented guys would go and see them again only we had the chairs very uncomfy n squashed together

I wasn’t too sure what the lads could to to fill a full evening, but I was not dissapointed in the slightest. It was a full evening of entertainment, comedy, videos and cooking. All in all it was a superb show and well worth the price of the ticket and travelling over 140 miles round trip, to attend. Recommend ***** 5 star

This was the second time we have seen the bikers, both nights were a superb night out, thoroughly enjoyed the night especially as i joined them on stage to tie up Dave Myers

Didn’t know what to expect but unfortunately it disappointed. It might have gone down well in amature theatre but it made me cringe at times, they lack talent to hold a show together. Things were slightly better when they were cooking. Love the Hairy Bikers but please stick to the BBC format and the books.
Sorry!!!!!!

took my nephew who is already showing great interest in cooking and although we probably expected to see more cookery demos we both had a great time especially as i ended up on stage with the hairies.Bought the tickets first day they were on sale and travelled from Cleveleys then found out they are now coming to blackpool next year.Perhaps a little less dressing up as a woman for Dave and no sarcastic remarks about Alopecia would also have been appreciated but maybe i am biased ???

I quite agree with Mark Ryan. I think the main ingredient they used in their ‘cooking show’ was a load of old tripe. If I’d wanted to just watch clips off the telly and see a couple of grown men talk about getting drunk I would’ve just gone down the pub. What on earth the stripping off and escapology had to do with their brand, I have no idea. Hairy Bikers, you made me feel let down, embarrassed that I’d encouraged my friends to come along, and well and truly ripped off.

Big fans of The Hairy Bikers and couldn’t wait to see them, but was soo disappointed. I was expecting more cooking alongside jokes and funny stories, not to watch footage of the programs I have already watched on tv, too much swearing for me from Si and them stripping off whilst supposedly ‘playing’ a game with members of the audience (who were actually very funny!! funnier than the Bikers!) Went with my mum and my sister and we all thought the same. Really disappointed and wish we hadn’t bothered going, don’t know if will be able to watch them on tv again.

myself, wife & 2 freinds were very dissapointed! a sad & embarassing pantomine. Si should turn his microphone down [or off], sit in his ‘Jim el fix it’ chair & leave the show to Dave & Shirley Dawson

This show was quite possibly the daftest thing i have ever seen. My husband and I really didnt know what to expect but we have never laughed so much. Yes the show wasnt perfect and was a bit immature but it was so entertaining and a real fun filled evening. the only let down was the venue itself, if sitting on tiny chairs wasnt enough the 20 stone fella next to me was practically sat on my knee all night long which took the edge of a perfectly entartaining show. Another bonus was seeing Si King in a pair of skinny jeans, since losing the weight he has a cracking pair of legs on him and is a little hottie on the sly : )

Both myself and my husband had a thoroughly brilliant evening, really enjoyed the show. Our only complaint was that our seats were so far to the side JJ47 and 48 that it was not easy to see all that was going on. I did say on the website Best Available seats and wonder why it gave us nearly outside when there were plenty up higher available that were more central. Won’t trust that option again
